IndianIt’s that one staple sweet dish that can never disappoint. It is always soft, creamy and milky. We have all grown up loving this sweet Barfi. But with the growing health concerns, we are asked to avoid these sweets at all cost. Yes, we need to cut down on sugar and extra unnecessary calories. Sugar free barfi is your saviour. This sugar free treat is lesser in calories and sugar but same in the taste that you love. Now you don’t have to cut down on the things you like, just change them a bit to make your body also love it.
Prepare the Ingredients
Measure and ingredients and keep them ready to start preparing. Keep them ready so that you can make the barfi’s without any disturbance.
Combine Milk and Ghee
Keep a heavy-bottomed pan on medium flame and heat the ghee. Slowly add milk to melted ghee and bring it to a gentle simmer.
Add Milk Powder and Almond Flour
Add the milk powder and almond flour to the pan slowly. Keep stirring the mixture to avoid lumps. Keep mixing it until the mixture becomes smooth and thick.
Incorporate Sweetener
Add your preferred sugar free sweetener to the mixture and stir well. Let it cook on low heat, stirring constantly to prevent sticking.
Flavour with Cardamom and Saffron
If you want an extra flavour, add the cardamom powder and saffron strands to the mixture. Mix it thoroughly so that it blends in the whole mixture well.
Cook Until Set
Cook the mixture until it starts to leave the sides of the pan and forms a soft dough-like consistency.
Shape the Barfi
Transfer the mixture from the pan to a greased plate or tray. Spread it evenly and press it down with a spatula or the back of a spoon.
Garnish and Cool
Sprinkle your barfi with chopped nuts and gently press them into the mixture. Allow the barfi to cool completely before cutting it into desired shapes.
Serve and Store
Let it cool down. Once cooled, cut the barfi into any shape you like (squares or diamonds). You can store it in an airtight container at room temperature or keep it in the refrigerator for up to a week.
