AmericanPeople of all ages would like some tomato ketchup on the side to eat their food with. But in taste, we forget that it is high in added sugar and calories. This can be concerning to those who are health conscious or those who have diabetes. In these cases a homemade sugar free tomato ketchup recipe can take away all your worries. This homemade tomato ketchup is a delicious and healthy alternative that can make your food tastier and more enjoyable.
Prepare the Ingredients:
Measure all ingredients and keep them aside, ready to cook. Don’t go looking for ingredients at the last minute!
Combine the Ingredients:
Put a medium sized saucepan on the stove. Add tomato puree, apple cider vinegar, and water to it.
Stir in all the spices. Add the sugar-free sweetener like Sugar Free Natura, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, mustard powder, black pepper, allspice, and smoked paprika (if using).
Simmer the Ketchup:
Wait till the mixture comes to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for 30-45 minutes and keep occasionally to avoid it sticking to the bottom. Check when the ketchup thickens to your desired consistency.
Blend for Smoothness:
If you like a smooth ketchup just like the store bought one, use an immersion blender. You can also transfer the mixture to a blender and blend the pure until smooth.
Cool and Store:
Let the ketchup cool down to room temperature. Now carefully transfer to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
